Fashion on the Charles

Head of the Charles is one of my favorite Boston events: people cheering, viewing all the different crew teams, gorgeous views on the Charles river, oh and free samples. Bring me to an event where they pass out free chips for you to try, I'm there. Just me? Or am I the only one to admit this?

Either way, the HOCR is something I go to every year, and over the past few years (of course with the surge of bloggers) it's become a bit of a fashion show. Having done crew, it has its own fashion trends, cool socks and team blazers, but the trends have transferred to its spectators. Every year this event gets a little bit bigger, and a little more showy. I'm waiting for the day Brooks Brothers has 2 tents set up with their limited edition items. Going to the Brooks Brothers tent has become a bit of my own tradition: collecting the sweaters, if you remember last year's post here (also reminiscing about my brief time doing crew). I think next year I'm going to get a tie, as it is I have no more room for sweaters at my apartment.

How to perfect the preppy style that embodies HOCR:
•Plaid
•Pearls (my necklace is ON SALE HERE!)
•Stick with crimson, navy, and gold/camel for colors
•Collars/ layers (button up shirt FTW)
•Blazers (extra points with a tie or bow tie)
•"Poise" - walk with your chin up like you're not knee deep in debt for going to an ivy league school. You see I don't have this problem... I"m just in knee deep debt without an ivy league education *internal crying/ external country club laugh*

Blooper shot: Asking the boyfriend to take 50 more photos of you. His exact reaction..... this is the body language of someone who lovessssssssss taking photos. But, points to him for matching my red plaid, with the red plaid of cuffs of his pants!
