Dress for Success! #BloggersGive
I am a firm believer that fashion plays a huge role in our lives. Whether you’re conscious of it or not, clothes have the power to change your attitude, give you confidence and create a lasting impression. This is why today and tomorrow I'm donating 10% of my sales from this post to Dress for Success! Even better, @ShopStyle has generously offered to match 100% of my contribution!
Not all women are fortunate enough to have a closet full of interview outfits that make them feel both confident and empowered. I've been on several interviews and sometimes having a killer outfit that makes you feel badass makes all the difference. Feeling empowered in an interview is a huge factor, which is why this is an important stepping stone and a cause I feel strongly about.
If you're not familiar with Dress for Success you should pop over to their website, but here's the quick 411: "Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life."
I did this shoot with one of my best friends, because there's no one better to make you feel confident and awesome like a best friend. Meet my friend Emily who is home from school and we both agree that wearing Navy is a perfect interview color. While everyone is in a black suit, you can stand out from the crowd and still look like you mean business. We mixed and matched our outfits so if you're applying to something that is a bit more of a casual environment, I paired jeans with a blazer and heels. And if you're applying for something a bit more serious but you still want to feel comfortable, or transition into something for the rest of the day after the interview, pair sparkly Keds and a Chambray top to a dress for a fun outfit. The point is you want to be in something that you're comfortable in and still be your amazing self.
