Prophecy Girl

Yes, another Buffy reference, but you guys.....this is SO Buffy Season 1 finale Prophecy Girl (an iconic look).

Anyways, let's talk about "windows of opportunity." Like how this dress is one big window of leg-pop opportunity. In all seriousness though, I feel as I get older windows of opportunity get smaller. Before, if you liked someone and you didn't get to kiss them at the stroke of midnight at the party, that was ok, because there was always the following week. Now, as an adult, there's a 75% chance "that following week" I'm going to stay in and do laundry; and unless my soul mate is the Chinese delivery, I'm not going to connect "Mr. Right."

With dating apps and meeting people out and about I find this is your timeline: you exchange numbers, flirtatious texts, then you have max 2 weeks to meet in person to actually form a relationship. After that 2 weeks, that window is shut. I met someone via Bumble, great conversation, loved everything about him (yes I did my "research"), and it seemed perfect. He invited me out one night, but I couldn't come, then the following week he was busy with finals (getting his PhD.... yup feeling out of my league) and that was it. The great conversations, the shared interests, the fantasies of owning a dog together (I'm allowed to daydream): gone. I didn't want to be needy / pushy and continuously ask him out each week. Essentially, I was forgotten about, and texted him randomly a full month later, to no reply. I had missed my window. P.s. this window was beautiful, charming, and a marching band geek *swoon*... ugh I mean, it had nice drapes. Now I can either hunt him down and try to meet in person (my last hope), or I can be the creepy girl and annoy him via text out of sheer boredom because the chance is gone anyways. Either way, both are sad and desperate. I guess I'll let the universe decide on that one.

My roommate just met someone at Boston Calling, WHILE STILL WEARING THE BOOT (I'm going to steal the boot from her), and she too is playing with her window. Luckily, she's doing better than I did. He invited her over late one evening (not booty call late.... but also not dinner time), concerned about not forming a genuine connection, she opted out, but worried that was her window of opportunity, because now (week 2) he's traveling on business. I'm not saying this 2 week window applies to everyone, but there's definitely a moment when one party loses the appeal of meeting someone new, when it's taking forever to physically hang out.

Basically, I think people deserve bigger windows. In fact, forget windows, we need french doors.

Also, funniest moment from Boston Calling: My roommate literally falls into the arms of this guy (that's not a joke), she's now talking in slow motion. somehow Snapchat's heart filter escapes digital boundaries and enters reality, Eminem is now singing Dashboard Confessional songs (not actually), meanwhile I now have to introduce myself to his friends as "Meredith, the girl you'll be now watching the concert with for the rest of the evening." Thankfully, these guys were very polite and friendly, and didn't mind that I replaced their friend, who was lost to the depths of my roommate's boot.

This dress would have been perfect for Boston Calling, on the sunny days. I originally got this dress for work, thinking it was super conservative being a button up, long sleeve maxi dress (perfect for women's winter), but when I got it, it was completely see through. I then decided, this would be my glam-slut dress. Aka, I look very glamorous, but I also feel very naked. To cut down on the naked factor, I added shorts and a black bralette for a fun Miami feel. I honestly got this dress through a Facebook link and it was $15, so not shocked or disappointed it's 100% see-through.

This was shot in Somerville Union Square, overlooking the Boston Skyline - highly recommended. Also, great spots in that area: Brass Union and Bronwyn.
