Come here Often? What's your sign?

The universe is listening to me. The day I published my post about the frustrations of not getting a date, a guy asked me to go out that evening. Either he reads my blog, or it's a sign! (I also stepped in dog shit later, but more on that later) I'm a huge fan of the universe throwing me signs (and How I Met Your Mother). It was a great first date. Something that he did that not only was impressive but eased my mind was, state right at the beginning he was paying for the meal. I HATE the check dance. I have no problem splitting a bill, but I like knowing upfront. If I'm going to be splitting the meal in half, I know what my budget will be. He could see me read the menu, avoiding the entree section, and he very simply said, "Hey, I want you to order whatever you find interesting, it's on me tonight." It was like the weight lifted from my shoulders, and I could just relax. No one wants to be tense on a first date, or hungry and distracted wondering what protein tastes like. I also really appreciated how he put it: "whatever you find interesting." If an appetizer as a meal is what I found interesting, clearly no judgements were going to be made. The pressure was off.

Something that he did do, that I discovered about myself that I didn't like, was touch my face. Mid conversation, he reached over the table and gently grazed his hand on my face. I'm all for kissing on the first date.... maybe a few other things on a first encounter, but turns out face touching is a bit forward for me. The only people who have ever held my face in their hands are significant others, and my dad. I obviously haven't slept with this guy yet in-between the order of tacos and pizza, and I wasn't about to start calling him "Daddy" either. There are some things that I feel are very intimate, and reserved for special people, I also think you should probably feel out your date first, before entering their private space and touching their bodies. Also, I'm an extremist: if you're going to touch me, go for it, kiss me, take me, but light grazes makes me feel uncomfortable. It was a sweet gesture, but dude... watch the foundation.

Other than that, it was perfect. The great thing about dating apps is you can see where people are from originally. I saw he moved here from San Francisco, and I tried to give him a sense of "home" (or the stereotype of his home that I know): I took him to Telegraph Hill in Southie because it's a beautiful view, but also the hills and colorful rows of houses are like from what I've seen on Full House, and I know San Fran has amazing tacos, which is why I picked Lincoln (I think their tacos are better than Loco's).  He mentioned how he missed home, and how tonight was the first time in a while he felt close to it. (POINTS ME) We walked and talked, and then he walked me home. Text book: perfect... until I stepped in dog shit. Dear Southie, land of dog owners, I've stepped in dog crap twice in 3 months, #STOPIT! If he wasn't holding on to me at the time, I would have slid on the dog poop and would have probably fallen in it. Oh and he LOVED the tacos at Lincoln, so if you want San Fran approved tacos, go there.

The Dress

This dress I got from the site Floryday for $53!!!! It was one of those Facebook ads, and I was like screw it, for this cheap, I'll either have a great summer dress, or a new tablecloth. Granted I can't wear a bra with it, and you can see how much my boobs hate one another (It's like Scooby and Shaggy comically running in opposite directions because they saw my ghost sternum) but I'm in LOVE with it. Purposefully cheap clothing sites like this weird me out, but I was having a bad day when I bought this. I bought another piece from this site too, that I wasn't thrilled with, but really liked, and their customer support team was ON IT! I was amazed. I don't get that good of a service with some of my favorite stores, but they offered me 3 amazing options if I wasn't satisfied with a piece and may want to return it: Full return, partial store credit and keep the piece, or a percent of the money back and still keep the piece. I was floored! This is my new favorite summer shop!
