My Fairmont Lady

Every time when I wear my hair au naturel, I always feel like Carrie Bradshaw: messy, yet fabulous. It was a heatwave this weekend (50º), so I emerged from my winter cave and decided to go shopping in Back Bay. I love this dress because it's lightweight and so stretchy (easy to take on and off), and the scallop details exclaim "spring," but for strolling around shopping, I wanted to show how to wear this shift dress in a more relaxed fun way. I could have easily thrown on some pearls and heels and let the dress speak for itself, I mean it easily could with those scalloped details, but I was aiming for comfort while shopping with my boyfriend. What I love about layers is I could always remove them, switch out the shoes, and then this dress becomes perfect for a nice dinner, perhaps the Oak Room at the Fairmont Copley? I just brought my boyfriend there for the first time, and he was impressed with the whole ambiance. Can't wait to go back, also one of the few bars that has my favorite beer: Sam Adams Brick Red. It's fun having a boyfriend from out of state, I get to experience all my favorite spots like it's the first time again!

Things I did to dress the dress down: I added the belt to show off my waist, and the long cardigan acted perfectly as a topcoat. There was something about the scarf and booties that went well together. Scarf alone brought a Pan Am look, and the booties definitely made it more casual, which toned down the flight attendant style. And then we have the cherry on top: the beret. I'm obsessed with this little red beret I got from Urban Outfitters, I'm pairing it with everything, no idea if it actually looks good with my outfit, but I'm wearing it!
